Freezing orders and an ancillary order, requiring the provision of asset information in a 7 business day timeframe, had been made against Clive Palmer and a number of his companies, in proceedings concerning the liquidation of Queensland Nickel. At the time the orders were made, some of the respondents sought (and obtained) a stay to make further submissions about the time for compliance with the ancillary order. At the further hearing, the respondents argued (among other things) that the stay should persist.
The Special Purpose Liquidators successfully argued for the stay to be lifted and a shorter time for compliance than the respondents sought.
Matthew Hickey appeared for the Special Purpose Liquidators, instructed by King & Wood Mallesons.
